Success: The continual achievement of your own predetermined goals, stabilized by balance and purified by belief.
IR op: Improved results – organizational and/or individual – drives our feeling of success.
PBC: Positive Behavior Change is a necessity for achieving Improved Results. It is important to focus on the positive aspects of behavior change since over 75% of our attitudes are based on negative influences in our lives.
Goals are crucial to successfully achieving the behavior change leading to improved results. Goals provide us with “What” has to be done and “Why”. Alone, they will not get us the needed change and improved results.
S & K: We all need Skills and Knowledge in both our professional and individual lives. They address the How (skills) and the Where and When to apply skills (knowledge). Even with goals, we are not where we want to be for improved results.
A: Attitudes provide the drive or our “Want” to Improve Results, and combined with Skills, Knowledge and Goals, enable us to drive Positive Behavior Change. Attitudes are a function of our Values (v) and our Beliefs (b). Nearly 95% of our Attitudes were developed by the time we were 5 years old and are predominately negative in nature.
88%(f)c: Our Attitudes are Habits of Thought that shape our decisions. This primarily occurs in our sub-conscience where as much as 88% of our daily decisions are made. We don’t even think about how we do most things (tying our shoes, driving a car, etc.), including those that hinder us from achieving our goals.
This success formula spells out the key components and their relationships in achieving individual and organizational results. Professional development and coaching must be capable of addressing each of these areas.
